School Announcements

Hello again everyone!

The last few weeks have been incredibly busy ones with our Wilson students once again making us swell with pride as they performed at the "Jam for Jamaal". This event was a fundraiser for one of our very own students who needs a service dog. Thanks to our Drum Corps, Dancers and Choir, along with all the other performers who donated their talents, Jamaal will be able to have a service dog very soon. Due to the extensive training that these dogs undergo, significant funds are required, and I am very proud to say that the target for the fundraiser was met! Thanks again to the students, staff and parents who gave their time to make this event a great success.

I am very excited to tell you about two fundraisers that we are having soon!

Next week, on Friday, February 26th, we will be staging an event that we have called "Help Haiti Heal". This event will take place here at Wilson, from 2 to 6 PM. It will feature an assembly, Pep Rally, and Fair that will feature our famous Drum Corps, LEARNS Cheerleading, the incredible Wilson Choir, Student Poetry, LEARNS Sign Language Class, Wilson Dance Group, a Soccer Tournament, a Basketball Shootout, a Face Painting Booth,  Photo Booth,  Haiti Card Making Booth, clothing and canned food drive, game booths, and PTA food sales. There will be raffle prizes and trophies for the sports tournaments.

All proceeds will go directly to victims of the Haiti Earthquake. Fair activities are only $0.25 per activity!

The PTA is in great need of volunteers for this event! If you can possibly volunteer some time on the afternoon of the 26th to assist with food sales, please email Carmen Richardson Moore at carmenitabrita@yahoo.com.

On Saturday, May 22nd, we will be holding our major Spring Fundraiser.

This will be a major event held in conjunction with our partner school, Willard Elementary. The day will begin with a Walk-a-thon, and will feature food booths, games, music and a Silent Auction. In order for this event to be successful, we will need as many volunteers as possible to assist with food sales, game booths, ticket booths, etc. A mailer will be sent to your homes shortly which will contain a great deal of information regarding this event as well as forms for you to sign up for volunteer positions. Our students have worked incredibly hard this year and are more than deserving of your support to make this event a major success. Please give some consideration to helping our students succeed, and volunteer some time!
